Overview
The Centre for Strategic Security and Diplomacy (CSSD) focuses on strategic security and diplomacy in East Africa, Africa and around the globe. Central to this is critical research, academic engagement and policy development, to enhance more sustainable strategic security and diplomacy.
Core focus
- Global, Continental and Regional Security Architecture — analysis of military, intelligence and security frameworks at regional, continental and global levels.
- Geopolitics and Military Strategy — strategic locations, resources and territorial interests, and the expansionist or defensive policies driven by geography and power rivalries.
- Defence Policy and Military Strategy — civil-military relations, force modernisation, deterrence theory and counter-insurgency.
- Transnational Crime and Border Security — arms trafficking, cross-border armed groups and insurgents.
